The Johns Hopkins University is seeking a highly motivated Sr. Research Specialist who is interested to join our team to work on the in vitro and in vivo testing of brain gene therapy candidates. This candidate will participate in the development and testing of gene transfer methods for the mouse brain. They will be working on a team that includes other technicians, graduate students and postdoctoral fellows and will make significant and important contributions to various aspects of these research efforts.
This will include neuronal cultures, rodent injections, genotyping, gene expression measurement qPCR, and immunoblotting/immunohistochemistry for protein expression. Our laboratory investigates the mechanisms of synaptic plasticity and how defects in this process cause intellectual disability, autism, and epilepsy. We use a wide spectrum of techniques (molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, mouse genetics, histology, in vitro/in vivo imaging, omics studies) to study sensory the neurons that support learning and intelligence.
