Job Summary

Gather patient information in the function areas of payment planning, insurance verification and treatment records. Works independently with general supervision in order to pre-certify all scheduled patients for services to be rendered, verifying insurance benefits and obtaining pre-certifications as required.

Communicates in an acceptable, easily understood manner.

Observe professional ethics in maintaining confidential information acquired concerning the personal, financial, and medical or employment status of patients and their families.

Act as liaison between the Medical Staff or Nursing Staff and incoming patients/families.

Enter correct patient data into the computer terminals.

Sort back fax machine and deliver to appropriate areas.

Answer phone line and transcribe message to appropriate areas.

Maintain RFL probe availability.

Verify accuracy of forms and corrects errors prior to scanning.

Scan and quality review all PMC records as required.

Make corrections to computer records as necessary.

Prepare charts for assigned schedules for the next day of operation.

Receive and discharge patients from Recovery Area using a positive and courteous tone.

Schedule follow-up patients accurately with a low error rate.

Maintain and deliver of out-going referrals/test to appropriate areas.

Return valuables.

Provides assistance and transports ill or injured to the required area.

Assist arranging financial aid or transportation for indigent patients.

Maintain adequate stock/supplies in Recovery Area.

Must follow accepted safety practices for patients and hospital, report safety hazards and initiate appropriate action, and participate in safety instructional programs. Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Education:

High school graduate or equivalent
