Job Description

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston is one of the world's most respected centers focused on cancer patient care, research, education and prevention. The ideal candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent and preferably at least one year of recent experience working in direct patient care. Shift is straight 3pm-11pm with rotating weekends and holidays.

G11 Hospital Internal Medicine is a 30-bed inpatient unit providing care to adult medical oncology inpatients with a diagnosis of solid tumor malignancies; primary services include genitourinary, breast, and internal medicine. Patients require nursing interventions for the management of chronic and acute disease related symptoms, pain control, treatment related side effects; chemotherapy and biotherapy administration: patient and family teaching.

Acts as member of a multidisciplinary team that identifies and addresses patient care needs. Assists in completion of activities of daily living, mobilization, admit/discharge and obtaining vital signs. Updates and retrieves patient information. Ensures patient environment is maintained in a clean, safe and orderly manner. Acts as part of an assigned care team.

EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent.

Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
