We are looking for a personable, self-motivated and organized Clinical Research Assistant to help with recruitment activities for a large, multi-year clinical trial testing the efficacy of behavioral interventions on alcohol misuse and related outcomes among teens. Key job responsibilities include approaching and collecting data from pediatric primary care patients using a hybrid recruitment approach, data entry, and conducting chart review. This is a great opportunity for candidates interested in public health and/or psychology, as well as those interested in gaining hands-on experience in clinical research and patient interaction before applying to medical or graduate school.

Position Specific Responsibilities will Include : 

  • Following hybrid in-person and phone recruitment procedures to approach, obtain consent from and enroll Michigan Medicine pediatric primary care patients in study activities
  • Using MiChart to review medical charts of study participants and record data according to study procedures.
  • Requesting, distributing and documenting transactions of subject incentive payments in accordance with university guidelines.
  • Completing participant tracking paperwork accurately and efficiently using Ripple.

The candidate will also be responsible for: demonstrating cultural awareness when interacting with participants from diverse backgrounds; and following all study protocols and procedures. This position entails a varying schedule where, during active study periods, the candidate will regularly work nights and weekends which are shared across staff in the lab. Additional study tasks may be assigned as needed.

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • This position requires flexibility and availability to work between the hours of 10:00am-8:00pm and weekend shifts; as well as a varying schedule of in-person and remote shifts.
  • We are looking for someone who is organized, self-motivated, empathic, personable, professional, and efficient and has strong communication skills.
  • Able to work independently for extended periods while maintaining effective communication with team leads, study coordinators, and principal investigators.
  • Candidate will be expected to prioritize multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and adhere to strict confidentiality policies.
  • Must be comfortable with a varying work schedule based on participant needs and the patient appointment schedules of Michigan Medicine pediatric clinics, interacting with diverse populations, and discussing sensitive topics (alcohol and substance use) with study participants.
  • Associate Degree in Health Science or an equivalent combination of related education and experience.
  • Previous clinical research experience, clinic/hospital work or volunteer experience, and knowledge of the research process.
  • Experience working on a multi-disciplinary team and using MiChart and Qualtrics

Work schedule may vary based on participant needs and primary care appointment schedules. Staff typically work between the hours of 10:00am to 8:00pm.
