Position Overview:
We are seeking enthusiastic and qualified Adjunct Instructors to teach Public Speaking and Communication courses. This role offers an exciting opportunity to engage with students at a community college located in a picturesque setting, about ninety miles north of New York City in the Catskill Mountains. We are looking for candidates with a strong background in public speaking and communication, and prior community college teaching experience is preferred.
Responsibilities:
Teach and facilitate learning in Public Speaking and Communication courses, following the course outlines, schedules, and institutional policies.
Develop and share a comprehensive Course Outline at the start of each course, detailing topics, assessment methods, and contact information.
Maintain accurate records of attendance and grading, and submit them as required.
Adhere to institutional and departmental policies, procedures, and deadlines.
Regularly check and respond to institutional communications via email.
Teach in various formats, including in-person, online, and hybrid as needed.
Qualifications:
Master's Degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
Proven commitment to active learning and innovative teaching methods.
Proficiency in computer and design programs.
Strong passion for teaching, mentoring, and working with community college students.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and technology skills.
Dedication to supporting diverse student populations, including those with disabilities and non-traditional students.
Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Active engagement in the field of study.
Evidence of successful college or university-level teaching.
Familiarity with the BrightSpace Learning Management System.
Ability to engage students dynamically and integrate applied arts into the curriculum.
Compensation: $1,049 per credit hour.
